NO2C6H4CH2Br 216.03-Almost white to pale yellow crystals, darkening on exposure to light. Practically insoluble in water; freely
soluble in alcohol, in ether, and in glacial acetic acid. Store in tight, light-resistant containers.
MELTING RANGE (741): between 98° and 100°.
SOLUBILITY: Separate 200-mg portions yield clear solutions in 5 mL of alcohol and in 5 mL of glacial acetic acid.
RESIDUE ON IGNITION (Reagent test): negligible, from 200 mg.
