(Iodomethane), CH3I 141.94 CAS RN®: 74-88-4.—Colorless, heavy, transparent liquid. Slightly soluble in water. Miscible with alcohol, with ether, and with solvent hexane. Turns brown on exposure to light as a result of liberation of iodine. Use a suitable grade with a content of not less than 99%.
