—Dissolve 500 mg of ferric ammonium sulfate in 250 mL of water containing 10 mL of diluted sulfuric acid, and add water to make 500 mL. To 100 mL of the resulting solution add 50 mL of a 1.15% solution of sodium salicylate, 20 mL of diluted acetic acid, and 80 mL of a 13.6% solution of sodium acetate, then add water to make 500 mL. Store in a well-closed container. Protect from light. Use within 2 weeks.
