H2S 34.08 CAS RN: 7783-06-4.—Colorless, poisonous gas, heavier than air. Soluble in water. Is generated by treating ferrous sulfide with diluted sulfuric or diluted hydrochloric acid. Other sulfides yielding hydrogen sulfide with diluted acids may be used. Is also available in compressed form in cylinders.
