CNCH2COOC2H5 113.11 CAS RN®: 105-56-6.—Colorless to pale yellow liquid. Slightly soluble in water. Miscible with alcohol and with ether. At atmospheric pressure it boils between 205° and 209°, with decomposition. At a pressure of 10 mm of mercury it distills at about 90°.
Specific Gravity〈841〉: between 1.057 and 1.062.
Acidity: Dissolve 2 mL in 25 mL of neutralized alcohol, add phenolphthalein TS, and titrate with 0.10 N sodium hydroxide: not more than 1.5 mL is required to produce a pink color.
