(Diethyl Ether; Ether), (C2H5)2O 74.12—Use ACS reagent grade.
Peroxide: Transfer 8 mL of potassium iodide and starch TS to a 12-mL ground glass-stoppered cylinder about 15 mm in diameter. Fill completely with the substance under test, mix, and allow to stand protected from light for 5 min. No color develops [NMT 10 ppm (10 mg/L)]. Alternatively, peroxide test strips may be used.
