—Dissolve 0.9 g of sulfanilic acid in 9 mL of hydrochloric acid with warming, and dilute with water to 100 mL. Cool 10 mL of this solution in iced water, and add 10 mL of a sodium nitrite solution (4.5 in 100) previously cooled in iced water. Allow to stand at 0° for at least 15 minutes (the solution may be kept for 3 days at this temperature). Immediately before use, add 20 mL of sodium carbonate solution (1 in 10).
