—Within 12 hours of use, rapidly dissolve 35 mg of anthrone in a hot mixture of 35 mL of water and 65 mL of sulfuric acid. Immediately cool in an ice bath to room temperature, and filter through glass wool. Allow the solution to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes before use.
