—Transfer 500 g of sodium hydroxide to a 1000-mL volumetric flask. Dissolve in and dilute with carbon dioxide-free water to volume. Allow to stand. Decant the clear supernatant, taking precautions to avoid the introduction of carbon dioxide. _{(USP 1-May-2020)}
