C6H7N 93.13 CAS RN®: 109-06-8,-Colorless to yellowish liquid.
Assay: Inject an appropriate specimen into a suitable gas chromatograph (see Chromatography (621)) equipped with a flame-ionization detector, helium being used as the carrier gas. The following conditions have been found suitable: a 2-mm x 2-m glass column packed with 20% liquid phase G16 on 80- to 100-mesh support S1C; the injection port temperature is maintained at 140°; the detector temperature is maintained at 300°; the column temperature is maintained at 90° and programmed to rise 3º per minute to 140°. The area of the C6H7N peak is not less than 98% of the total peak area.
REFRACTIVE INDEX (831): 1.500 ± 0.002 at 20°.
