H2SO4 98.08
49.04 g in 1000 mL
Add slowly, with stirring, 27 mL of sulfuric acid to a sufficient quantity of water to make 1000 mL..
Standardization: Accurately weigh about 5.0 g of tromethamine, dried according to the label instructions or, if this information is not available, dried at 105° for 3 h. Dissolve in 50 mL of water and add 2 drops of bromocresol green TS. Titrate with 1 N sulfuric acid to a pale yellow endpoint. Each 121.14 mg of tromethamine is equivalent to 1 mL of 1 N sulfuric acid.
N= (mg tromethamine)/ (121.14 mL x H2SO4)
[NOTE-If this volumetric solution is used in a qualitative application such as pH adjustment, dissolution medium, or diluent, its standardization is not required.]
