(α-Chloronaphthalene), C10H 7Cl 162.62 CAS RN: 90-13-1.—Colorless to light yellow liquid.
Assay: Use a gas chromatograph equipped with a flame-ionization detector. The following conditions have been found suitable: a 3.2-mm × 1.83-m stainless steel column is packed with 7% phase G2 on support S1A; the injection port temperature is maintained at 250° and the detector temperature at 310°; and the column temperature is programmed to increase at a rate of 10° per minute from 50° to 250°. Not less than 90% of C10H 7Cl is found, of which not more than 10% is 2-chloronaphthalene.
Refractive Index 〈831〉: between 1.6320 and 1.6340, at 20°.
