Dissolve about 17 g of potassium ferricyanide in water to make 1000 mL.
Standardization: Transfer 50.0 mL of this solution to a glass-stoppered, 500-mL flask, dilute with 50 mL of water, add 10 mL of potassium iodide TS and 10 mL of dilute hydrochloric acid, and allow to stand for 1 min. Then add 15 mL of zinc sulfate solution (1 in 10), and titrate the liberated iodine with 0.1. N sodium thiosulfate VS, adding 3 mL of starch TS as the endpoint is approached. Protect from light, and restandardize before use.
M = (mL Na2S2O3 x N Na2S2O3)/50.0
[NOTE-If this volumetric solution is used in a qualitative application such as pH adjustment, dissolution medium, or diluent, its standardization is not required.]
